Law Offices of Stefan Coleman

06/14/2011

My name is Stefan Coleman and If you have received calls from a very suspicious Indian-accented individual purporting to be from the Law Offices of Stefan Coleman and is calling you to collect a debt, this is from an individual who is in India who is totally unaffiliated with my law firm.  He is using my law firm name to pretend to be from my law office who is suing you to try and scam people out of their money. I have and am continuing to try to have this man stop this amateurish scam and have him arrested.

I have had a few individuals call me in the last few months who have said that an Indian-accented man was harassing them on the phone to collect a debt.  This man said he was from the Law Offices of Stefan Coleman.  We contacted a detective where the individual was located in LA and we are currently looking into finding out who this individual is.  I just want to let anyone out there to know that this individual is in no way affiliated with my law firm and is a total scam!  Do not return his phone calls and certainly do not pay him any money.   From what I gather, he calls people who owe money and threatens them that they will be arrested if they do not pay by a certain date.  The individuals who he is calling may not have even been sued.

Also, I do not practice debt collection.  In fact, just the opposite I practice bankruptcy law.  I help people who are saddled with debts to file for bankruptcy.  In the end, I am writing this to communicate to anyone who is getting harassing phone calls from this outfit.  My law office is in no way seeking to collect debt from anyone.  Recognize these people as scammers and block their phone numbers.  See this article on how to block phone numbers.

If you should have any questions regarding this please contact me or my office about this.
